Sherri Goggin, mother of five children (four born prematurely) , is the founder of the Bundles of Joy program. Along with the help of numerous community volunteers including the leadership of local teen Joseph Stunzi, the program has evolved into a multi-state effort to support premature infants and their families. The Bundles of Joy program provides a "bundle" bag containing a hand-made blanket, a teddy bear, March of Dimes educational information about prematurity, and other donated items such as CDs and children's books to the families of premature children born in hospitals across the state of Georgia. To date, over 4500 teddy bears have been collected and over 3500 blankets have been hand-made by volunteers across the Southeast to help support this endeavor. Joseph along with other teens has raised over $25,000 to support the program.
Cumulatively, over 2000 bundles have been delivered to families across the Southeast. More than 350 volunteers of all ages have been able to play an influential part in the program's success. The "Bundles of Joy" program has achieved it's goal of raising awareness within the community as well as positively impacting the families of premature infants.
