2008 COMMUNITY SERVICE EXPO Lend a Hand In Athens, we care about our community. On Sept. 26, Athenians and other residents of Northeast Georgia will have a unique opportunity to learn more about the non-profits that make our community great. Athens will host its first ever Community Service Expo on Sept. 26 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Classic Center. Local non-profits will have the opportunity to host a booth to promote their missions and purposes, and a variety of unique educational and entertainment options will create an exciting day of education and cooperation at the Classic Center. The goal of expo organizer Sherri Goggin is to recruit more volunteers for the non-profits in our community and to link talent and energy with those who need it most. Presented by Community Connection of Northeast Georgia, Athens Area Chamber of Commerce, and The Classic Center, this unique event will feature hands on opportunities to learn about service.
